On Oct. 22, 2025, Syracuse defeated Boston College 3-2 and improved to 13-6 overall and 5-4 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. It seemed SU was nearing its first winning season under head coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam. However, the strong start didn’t last. Two days later, Syracuse lost in straight sets against BC, and the downhill tumble began. What to know about SU volleyball ahead of 2026 campaign

Syracuse volleyball’s 2025 season started with promise. The Orange were 9-2 after opening Atlantic Coast Conference play with a win over Notre Dame. It seemed it could be SU’s first winning season since 2021 and first winning ACC season since 2018. But the Orange stumbled in October, going just 4-4 in their next eight conference games. The final game of that stretch, a nail-biting 3-2 win over Boston College on Oct. 22, showed flashes of SU’s potential to compete in the ACC.

Former Oceanside Collegiate Academy Volleyball Player First in Program History to Win NCAA Conference Titles

Former Oceanside Collegiate Academy’s Anna Smith is the first player in the program’s history to win NCAA Division I Conference titles with the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.  The Chants completed the treble winning the Sun Belt Conference’s East Division, Conference and Tournament Championships this season.  They have now qualified for the NCAA Division I tournament and will find out their opponent next Monday during the NCAA Selection Show.
